Walter Cylkouski

Walter Cylkouski, age 81, of Newport, Ky., died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at his residence. He was a former insurance salesman for Western Southern and also a former detective with the Newport Police Department. He served in both WWII and in the Korean War. He was an avid Trap Shooter, and loved football and horses.

He is survived by his fiance Edwina Heringer of Newport; and two nieces and one nephew.
Memorial Visitation June 20th at the Lawler Hanlon VFW Post in Newport from 2pm to 5pm.

  2. When I was growing up, Cy was a close friend of my father, Joe McNay. A great guy and devoted policeman. In my teen years, Cy took me to the shooting range to watch him practice and he was a first rate marksman.

  4. Cy was a good friend of my Dad, too.(Coddie Rodgers) And Cy was one of my first "boyfriends" (when I was 3 and he was about 27. Love ya, Cy!

  5. Cy was one of my dad's very good friends for years and years. I remember so many stories from Dad and the gang at Burkart's Bar. Even as a young child I remember thinking how funny Cy was. He was also one of the nicest men I have ever met. My dad loved him very much. I will always remember him coming to my dad's funeral two years ago and crying at the casket because he had lost a friend. I live in NY so I can't be at the service on Sunday but please know that my prayers are with you.
