Nelda Scharfenberger

Nelda C. Scharfenberger, 79, of Alexandria, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012 at home. She was a housewife. Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Caroll Scharfenberger & a brother, Frank Houston. She is survived by her son, Terry (Marianne) Scharfenberger, 2 granddaughters, Heather (Tony) Scharfenberger & Kristen (Dustin) Scharfenberger, a great granddaughter, Kendall Kidd & a sister, Carolyn Flaugher. Visitation 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria, KY. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, 10:00 AM at the Alexandria Funeral Home.     Nelda was such a special lady. In recent years we have kept in contact through phone calls and laughed and talked about our lives. She helped me through hard times and good times. Through the years, I always knew that she was there to encourage, work and laugh with me. And I felt I knew Terry, Marianne, Heather and Kristen as if they were my family,and, of course, that wonderful guy, Caroll. They were such a great couple. They came here once for luncheon after they were both retired. We had a good visit.
    The last time I saw Nelda was at my party last June. She looked wonderful and the photographer took numerous pictures of her. I sent some of the to her at Christmas.
    Now she's with Caroll, watching over us all and probably tidying up Heaven. She made our lives better by being here. We will miss her.
