  2. To the Reinhardt Family:

Northern Kentucky has lost a special man. Out here in California now for a number of years, I count myself fortunate in a life in sports that I knew your father.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.

As a kid growing up in Northern Kentucky, I was a fan and so thrilled that the very best softball players in America, the world really, resided here. Your Dad and Whitey Brown were right there at the top of them all. Getting to watch them play for Gatliff Autos and host the best teams from all over America, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Long Island and North Carolina among so many, was more than special.

Then as a college kid, I got to play against them in the Covington Tuesday night league. It was like playing the Reds. They were actually more professional.

My first night umpiring men's softball (I was fine doing baseball but men's softball was different), I was assigned a Sunday night church league game at Camp Springs, I believe. And here comes Myron Reinhardt with one of the teams. Talk about sweating out a game. But how typical, here this greatest softball player in America in his time was playing with his church team.

But then as a high school coach at Covington Catholic and Kentucky Post sports editor and Kentucky Enquirer columnist, I got to know your Dad as a basketball official, a principal, a superintendent and one of the special people who have made Northern Kentucky such a one-of-a-kind place.

It's good to see the Enquirer did a special obit to tell people his amazing story. Even now, when we read all those honors and accomplishments, I'm not sure people will ever understand how special Myron was -- as well as all the guys of his era. And how normal and real, he was, as well.

He will be very much missed.

    Take care.

    Yours,

  3. As manager of the ASA Hall of Fame, I had the pleasure of meeting Myron a few years ago while he visited. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with him about the early days of slow pitch softball. Myron was the first slow pitch player inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame in 1973 and the ASA couldn't have made a better pick. Myron was a special player and an outstanding human being. He will be missed and I am sorry to hear of his passing.
    Sincerely
    Bill Plummer,
former manager of the ASA Hall of Fame

  5. To the Reinhardt Family.
I am one of the many children to whom Mr. Reinhardt was an elementary school principal. I have very fond memories of him from those special days at Alexandria Elementary and more recently when he still remembered me when I would speak with him in a local restaurant or shop. His passing makes me strangely sad even though I knew him only in this capacity. A testament perhaps to the impact his life had on mine. My deepest sympathies, Paula Painter Unrau

  7. To The Reinhardt Family,

Myron Reinhardt was a wonderful individual, highly respected and deeply admired by all whose lives he touched. I became acquainted with Myron in the early sixties as a fellow school administrator. He officiated basketball games in many parts of the Commonwealth, and he was especially well known in this role throughout the Tenth Region. He visited our farm in Harrison County on numerous occasions to pursue his love of hunting, and he was truly a gentleman in every regard. His children have a litany of wonderful memories to sustain them in the days ahead. My wife and I were so sorry to hear of his passing.
