Shawn Buckenmeyer

Shawn Marie Daniell (Buckenmeyer), age 36, of Newport KY, died in her sleep at home on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Shawn is survived by her fiance, Charles Heffner; mother, Suzzanna Frank of Newport, KY; father, Fredric D Daniell II (Regina) of Caledonia, NY; brother, Fredric D Daniell III of Cincinnati, OH; and many beloved family, friends, and colleagues.

Shawn was born on September 16, 1977 in Groton, CT, and lived in Naples, Italy; Cairo, Egypt; western New York; and Northern Kentucky. She graduated from Genesee Community College (Batavia NY), SUNY Brockport, and Northern Kentucky University with degrees (respectively) in Graphic Design, Fine Art, and Media Infomatics. Shawn was to receive her Masters of Arts degree in English from NKU in December.

Shawn was a fiercely creative, encouraging, and loving woman. She was an ardent believer in inclusion, diversity, and personal creative expression for both herself and others. A gifted artist, a published author, and an assistant editor for the literary publications Aeqai and Sugared Water, Shawn was working on a new painting and a graphic novel at the time of her death. Shawn spent her last days joyfully planning and preparing for her impending wedding and subsequent honeymoon in Italy.

A Celebration of Her Life and Exhibit of her Art will be held at York Street Cafe, 738 York Street, Newport, KY on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 6-10pm.
